Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Nevada Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be retained so a response can be provided. The message remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive technical details about the visit:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a visitor's device. Nevada Criminal History uses them with analytics services to measure aggregate traffic, including popular pages and common exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some website features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertisements that may reflect visitor interests
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Operating the website and maintaining its performance
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Nevada Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It provides general directions to the Nevada Criminal History Repository, Nevada Department of Corrections, Nevada Public Sex Offender Registry, Nevada courts, and agencies in the state's 17 county equivalents. Public-record access is governed by the Nevada Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, while criminal-history access and dissemination are governed by NRS Chapter 179A. Nothing collected about visitors is used to create consumer reports or third-party criminal records, and Nevada Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a partner tool is handled under that partner's privacy policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, so visitors should review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Nevada agency pages, court portals, county sheriff and clerk websites, legal-aid resources, or third-party tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select targeted ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process queries submitted to their tools
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, however, and Nevada Criminal History cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
Nevada Criminal History is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on residency and the law that applies, Nevada privacy protections under NRS Chapter 603A may provide additional rights concerning personal data. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Opt out of certain types of processing
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request a copy of personal information on file

This privacy policy may be revised. An updated version will appear here with a new effective date, and visitors should review it periodically for changes.
